Close Your Eyes - Valleys [Single] Review

Close Your Eyes’ new single “Valleys” has recently been released. The music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkpYTU7bg38&feature=player_embedded) also is out. This is defiantly Close Your Eyes’ finest work to date. If fans though “Song For the Broken” was Close Your Eyes’ best, they’ll be blown out of the water with this new single. The single is in a very “punk rock” style with fast beats and palm muted guitars in the verses. However what makes this song good is its catchy feel, uplifting lyrics and fluid transitions. The song is constantly shifting from pop to punk to hardcore all throughout the duration of the song. The verses gets the listeners moving due to the fast nature of the composition. It all leads to a slow beat down session where lead vocalist Shane Raymond speaks the lyrics: “And in the midst of struggles of finding the man you call me to be. Your love reminds me that though I am broken, I am still standing. I am still screaming.” The message is of the song is making a comeback in the darkest time(s) of your life despite all odds. This Christian post-hardcore band has always been about positivity but this is their best work of that in my opinion. Great job Close Your Eyes! For fans of Rise Against, A Day to Remember, Terror, Relient K and Comeback Kid. “Valleys” is available as a single on iTunes now. “Empty Hands and Heavy Hearts” is available 10/25.
